Agree, one of the major ways we do recruiting here is through social media. From the very start my company used blogs, technical forums, and university forums to attract job applicants from specific circles. Fact is, we tried using mainstream channels (i.e. recruitment sites) and quickly realized there is no quality in them. They are there to promote big internationals and not other businesses.

Ironicaly, we only use recruitment sites for company blogging (they provide blogging space, and free promotion).

[...] Social Media in China is huge. I listened to an interesting podcast over the weekend from Marketing Voices: Social Media Podcasts with Jennifer Jones. On the blog post for the podcast it says: Of China’s more than 120 million Internet users, 43 percent are using online message boards, 76 million are using online video sharing sites and 24 percent are using blogs. Social media is alive and well in China… [...]

[...] I was just surfing around the web to look for cool new stuff and what’s happening in the Social Media with regards to marketing…and suddenly I cam across a very cool podcast site. The website is called podtech.net and includes a cool section called “MarketingVoices”. Its not really focusing on the Chinese Web, except for one podcast with CIC CEO Sam Flemming, (who talks about Internet Word of Mouth (IWOM) in China). But many podcasts on the site are really interesting and educational. [...]
