Interactive Live Video Creates New Marketing Opportunities

Chris Yeh CEO of USTREAM was an energetic, fun interview talking about video and its use in marketing. It is well documented that video makes podcasting more viral. Now with USTREAM and the capability to go live interactive video it seems as though marketers can have a playground for trying new ideas. After talking with Chris, I was struck by how many choices marketers have now if they are bold. Convincing management to try new ideas such as interactive live video is not simple, but my advice is to try something small, see if it works and keep building. I am trying to think of ways I can do interactive video for Marketing Voices.

Social Media is Affecting The Game of Politics

The use of social media in politics can drive the use of it in the corporate world, so says Peter Leyden, the Director of New Politics Institute. Peter says that marketers who see the most creative uses of social media should look to the political realm. Peter and I also discussed just how the election will be affected by the candidate’s use of social media. We are already seeing major changes in the impact the Democrats are having because the party which is the “one-down” position can afford to be more creative in their use of tools such as blogs, podcasts etc. to try to better position themselves.

The Inside Scoop on Truemors From Kawasaki

Guy Kawasaki candidly addressed the challenges he is facing with his new company Truemors on my most recent Marketing Voices. There have been numerous bloggers who have criticized the company, and although Guy admitted the negative comments did affect him somewhat, they were not going to make him “commit suicide.”

He wanted to come on the show to be able to tell his believers and the non-believers what he really is trying to do and I think he addresses all the criticisms. I debated having him on the show again, but in the end I think it was worth it. I will be interested to hear what the viewers have to say.

Love him or hate him, he is controversial and willing to stick his neck out which is refreshing in this day and age.
